She-Crab Pointers?
I'm undertaking a little project to delve into the subject of She-Crab Soup, one of Charleston's indisputed culinary classics. I'm well underway on my sampling tour of the city's restaurants, but there are hundreds of candidates to choose from, and I'd hate to miss out on a really good bowl.
So, I could use a little help. What restaurants do you think serve the best She-Crab Soup in town?
Feel free to pass along any other tips, memories, preferences, or anecdotes that would help, too.
And what better month than June for a nice steamy bowl of cream-based soup?

Many have tried, few have succeeded. At it's best, SCS is simple and tasty. I think Charleston Receipts is the best way to go, either of the two recipes. Too many restaurants try to do too much, or got too heavy on the flour. Maybe the best I've had, commercially produced, is from Bill Wolfe at Yeamans Hall Club. Consistently delightful.
82 Queen is my favorite
Chef Frank Lee makes the best at a restaurant (Slightly North of Broad). I agree with agricola that the best receipt is the one in Charleston Receipts.
Thanks to everyone for the input so far! I'll make sure I hit SNOB and 82 Queen. I'll have to work on wrangling an invite out to Yeaman's Hall, Agricola, but I agree that the Charleston Receipt's version is the way to go for home cooks.
Gasp! I'm surprised no one has mentioned Saffron's Bakery and Cafe yet?
By far, the greatest I've had! Take it from someone whose had his fair share of soups, broth, stews and bisques, you do not know what you're missing.
If that fails, my second in line is Poogan's Porch...
Good Luck!
